New Childcare Options for grades K-5

Hey guys! 

With Washington County Schools returning to in-person learning on a hybrid schedule, HFKidz Day Camp wants to help! HFKidz Day Camp is a safe space for your Kindergartener - 5th grader to stay, play and work on their assignments while you are working to provide for your family.

Our desire is to offer childcare options that best serve our parents. With the in-person hybrid schedule Washington County School Board has put in place, there are two options from which to choose:

  • K - 3rd grade spots provide one full day of childcare on Wednesdays and after school care for Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays. Cost is $175 per month per child
  • 4th & 5th grade spots provide three full days of childcare and two days of after school care. Cost is $250 per month per student

Note: October fees will be 75% of the monthly rate since it is a partial month

  • Who’s it for? Students attending Washington County Public Schools K thru 5th grade
  • Where at? Highlands Fellowship Abingdon Campus
  • When does it start? Begins Monday, October 12
  • What time? Full-day care - 8am – 5:30pm | Mon. – Fri.; After School Care is open until 5:30pm.
  • What about food? Kidz need to bring lunch & snacks daily (after school snack will be provided)
  • For how long? October 12 through December 18
  • After school transportation? Bus transportation from Watauga Elementary to Highlands Fellowship Abingdon Campus will be provided by the school. Parents of students at other schools will need to provide their own transportation.
Registration is now open! Spots are limited to 40 kids (K – 5th grade only).

The Details

Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:30pm
If dropping off after 8:30 or picking up before 5:00, drop off/pick up at the food pantry side of the building at the preschool doors. Please call 423-463-0943 for someone to meet at those doors. We are encouraging you to pick-up your child(ren) no later than 5:30pm. There will be a $1.00 per minute late charge starting at 5:45pm.

  • No electronic devices allowed except for their chromebooks, laptops, etc for school use only.
  • Face Mask
  • Ear buds or headsets
  • Water bottle labeled with child’s name
  • School supplies necessary for your child’s school work
  • Lunch and Snacks (Children are required to pack lunch & snacks. Please do not send a lunch that requires a microwave. Please do not send peanut butter due to allergies of other children.)
  • Virtual Platform login information – .Child's 9609#, QR code, what program is used for classwork (schoology, google classroom, etc), any passwords, Zoom schedules and where to locate the link. A list of the student’s assignments would be helpful.
  • Children will be required to wear a face mask when transitioning from one area to another, when they are out of their designated area, all while maintaining appropriate physical distancing.
  • Disposable masks will be available for anyone that may not have a mask.
  • Each child will have a designated 6’ x 6’ area in which they will do virtual learning and other school work.
  • All areas will be sanitized regularly throughout the day.
  • Children will be placed in appropriate age groups.

9:00-9:45 - Virtual Learning
9:45-10:00 - Clean Up
10:00-11:00 - Morning Activity / Snack
11:00-11:30 - Recess
11:45-12:30 - Lunch
12:30-1:30 - Virtual Learning
1:30-2:15 - Recess
2:30-3:15 - Daily Devotion /Snack
3:15-3:30 - Clean up
3:30-5:00 - Daily Activity (Movie, Games, etc)
5:00-5:30 - Pick up

We are happy to have you join us for HFKidz Day Camp. We understand that schedules are varied right now. The cost for HFKidz Day Camp covers the entire month; you may attend all or some days as needed.

We will have zoom areas designated just for zoom times. We will ensure that the kids are on their scheduled zoom calls if we are provided the schedule and location of where to find the zoom meeting (schoology, email, google classroom, etc).

We will assist the small children with reading their assignments. We will not teach but will help to the best of our ability. Any questions that we are unable to assist with will need to be addressed with the child's teacher, by the parent.

We will fill spots, not days. If you wish to send your child less than 5 days the price is still the same.

We will provide a quiet time at the end of the day if the younger children would like to take a nap. They will need to bring a towel, blanket, or mat.
